research summary

This is a study of "literature related to queer, gender, and sexuality" with a focus on British and American literature. I approach "queer," a general term for sexual minorities, from a literary perspective rather than a sociological one, interpreting how it is depicted in literary works and analyzing its expression.

Research and Education Policy

After learning the basics of English and American literature, students will closely read English and American literary works that deal with queerness, gender, and sexuality. By interpreting queerness through literature, students can learn to what extent writers of the time were able to express it while considering the background of the era, culture, religion, etc.

Degrees Obtained

Graduated from Miyagi Gakuin Women's University, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Department of English Literature

Message

I learned a lot during my time at graduate school. I had to face myself, meet friends who shared the same goals, and received enthusiastic guidance from my mentor. All of the experiences I gained during this time are invaluable and will be of use to all of you students.
