Message | Macroeconomics is an academic field that oversees the entire economy, including business conditions and prices, and can contribute to major policy decisions. At the same time, it is also an academic field that requires the ability to mathematically analyze highly abstract theories. We welcome the participation of those who are motivated and enjoy taking on such challenges. |
Interview
Please introduce yourself.
I moved to the US right after graduating from high school and lived there for over 10 years. Now, as a reaction to that, I enjoy traveling around Japan and going to hot springs during my free time.
Please tell us about your research.
My research focuses on quantitative analysis of the effects of macroeconomic policies, as well as nonlinear time series analysis and the relationship between the Japanese labor market and the macroeconomy.
What kind of contributions to society do you expect as your research progresses?
Macroeconomic policies sometimes involve trillions of yen of tax money, and estimating their effects provides important evidence for discussing the appropriate use of the taxes we pay. It also allows for data-based verification of what economic policies should be implemented during recessions.
What can you learn in the seminar?
Focusing on macroeconomic policies, students will learn about policy evaluation methods and data analysis concepts.
Please say a few words to all the students.
Looking back on myself, deciding to become a researcher as a university student was a major turning point in my life. Student life is when you have encounters and experiences that can greatly change your life. I want you to broaden your interests and take on challenges during your university life. I also want to be a teacher who grows together with students.
