research summary

I conduct comparative research on the linguistic characteristics of English and Japanese. In particular, I analyze both languages from the perspectives of pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. Recently, I have been especially interested in Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and analyze the characteristics of language used in social media and other online platforms.

Research and Education Policy

We analyze linguistic phenomena within the frameworks of pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. While observation and analysis of real-world examples are crucial in linguistics, at the graduate level, mastering theory is required to guarantee the validity of the analysis. Therefore, we aim for research that strikes a balance between description and explanation.
