| Research theme | 1. A comparative study of Japanese and English. |
| research summary | I conduct comparative research on the linguistic characteristics of English and Japanese. In particular, I analyze both languages from the perspectives of pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. Recently, I have been especially interested in Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and analyze the characteristics of language used in social media and other online platforms. |
| Research and Education Policy | We analyze linguistic phenomena within the frameworks of pragmatics and cognitive linguistics. While observation and analysis of real-world examples are crucial in linguistics, at the graduate level, mastering theory is required to guarantee the validity of the analysis. Therefore, we aim for research that strikes a balance between description and explanation. |
| Main career, work history, and academic background | Completed doctoral program in Literature and Linguistics, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Tsukuba. |
| Message | Language is a mirror that reflects humanity. Therefore, studying language is ultimately about tackling the grand question of "What does it mean to be human?" I hope to explore the fascinating world of language research together with all of you. |
