research content

Through process research in clinical psychology practice, I have been working to examine the understanding and response (regarding clients and situations, etc.) that psychological support professionals use in their support from the perspective of common factors that are not dependent on theory or school of thought. In particular, I have been interested in the understanding and response required of psychological support professionals in the state and situation of clients who are likely to encounter difficulties in providing support in the field in clinical practice, and have been working on research (the understanding and response required of psychological support professionals in the first couple counseling interview, support for students who are not motivated to seek counseling, and the understanding and response required to utilize family relationships in student counseling in student support, etc.).

Research and Education Policy

My current research interest is to examine the understanding and responses required of supporters in order to utilize family relationships in psychological assistance for those who need support, and to find knowledge that will be useful to supporters who engage in psychological clinical practice. In addition, as for my educational policy, I would like to work on training clinicians who can sincerely provide support by paying attention to the environment and related parties surrounding the support-requiring person, examining the meaning and effect of the support they provide from a broader perspective, while aiming to acquire basic knowledge and skills in providing support to those who need support.

Message

Clinical psychology is a practical science. I believe that in order to put this science into practice, it is most important to have a sense of balance between utilizing the helper's own experience while also being considerate of the individual and diverse experiences of the person in front of you. To achieve this, I believe it is essential to deepen self-understanding by comparing learning experiences such as reading literature and practical training with oneself, and to humbly learn about the impact that human relationships have on people (including oneself). In particular, I would like students to accumulate experiences that will make the content they learn useful in support practice, not just in their field of expertise, but also by valuing their attitude of thinking about themselves in their daily lives and thinking about what it means to be useful to others.
