research content

I am interested in comparing primary education in Japan and the United States, and in graduate school I conducted applied research on Japanese children's self-concept using Western theories and scales. Currently, I am conducting research on the influence of culture on self-formation, self-development in childhood and adolescence, and the relationship between children's sense of school adjustment and self-esteem.

Research and Education Policy

In the future, in addition to the expanding research field on the self, I am interested in international comparative research on Japan, the United States, China, and other countries. How do self-esteem and self-efficacy change when cultural and social backgrounds differ? Are there universal constructs in any culture? I believe that there are comparative perspectives that are possible not just in modern society, where global values are in flux, but also in the context of a simple cultural comparison. I also want to study relationships with others, focusing on the relationship between the personality traits of university students and their learning and sense of adaptation.

Message

My research began with a vague interest in education abroad, but depending on what you are interested in, how you explore, and how you interpret things, new discoveries and realizations will continue to expand. The quest for knowledge may be a difficult journey, but the world of academia is limitless. Let's train our minds and learn together to create new learning.
