Message

The privilege of youth is determined by "black skinny jeans and white T-shirts." Please aim for a life of "adaptation" and "resistance" that does not depend entirely on the system.
You don't have to be clear
It's fine to be vague
We somehow become happy
It's not an illusion, life is not a dream
We are clearly alive

Research theme

The formation and development of the Imperial Rule Assistance Movement in Java during the Japanese occupation
Human and social development in the post-Suharto era and the dynamics of local community organizations

research content

So far, I have conducted historical and sociological research on government-created community organizations during three turning points in modern Indonesian history: the Japanese occupation, the Sukarno era, and the Suharto New Order regime. My main findings are summarized in the following papers.
"The Practice and Politics of 'Tradition' in Indonesia: Gotong Royong (Mutual Aid) and the Night Watch of the Urban Residents' Organization RT/RW under the New Order Regime," Sociological Review 55-2 (2004).
"Institutionalization of Tradition in Java under the Japanese Occupation: Tonarigumi System and Gotong Royong," Asian Economics 47-10 (2006).

Research and Education Policy

Future research
Currently, I am researching the reconstruction of the formation and development process of the Imperial Rule Assistance Movement in Java during the Japanese occupation, the formation process of the military-industrial-academic complex, the occupation of academic knowledge, and the "occupation of the body." I am analyzing news footage, photographs, books, magazines, and other historical materials from the Japanese occupation period that have not been fully utilized in previous studies.
Educational Policy
I strongly encourage graduate students to submit their work to highly regarded academic journals, present at professional conferences, and obtain research grants, and I will actively support these efforts.
