The 2025 Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony was held.

The Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation's 2025 International Student Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony was held at our university's Discovery Hall on Friday, May 9th. The scholarship supports international students (special course, undergraduate, and graduate students) who are financially challenged to continue their studies, and was established with the support of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation.

Following the presentation of the certificates by Chairperson, Board of Trustees Yasunori Tashiro, two students spoke of their aspirations. HWANG SEONGYUN from South Korea (4th year, Faculty of Law) said, "Through my student life at Soka University, I would like to contribute in the field of international development cooperation in the future, to create a society where no one is left behind and everyone can live equally. I will study and grow with all my heart in order to achieve my goal."

VLIEG QUINTERO PATRICIA ELENA (2nd year Graduate School of International Peace Studies) from Panama said, "At Soka University, I meet teachers and classmates who are multicultural and diverse, and I am inspired and learn a lot every day. Also, by sharing my own experiences and thoughts, I am able to acquire knowledge and wisdom from different fields and develop new perspectives on sustaining peace and transforming local communities. I will continue to study hard, never forgetting my gratitude for the opportunity to learn like this."

Takahiro Okabe, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of the Makiguchi Memorial Educational Foundation, explained that the Foundation was established by Mr. Ikeda in order to carry on the great life of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, the father of Soka education, and to nurture talented people who will contribute to the happiness of people and world peace. He expressed his hopes for the future achievements of the international students.

Finally, President Mika Suzuki offered some encouragement to the students, saying, "Building friendships with people from all over the world and expanding that circle is important in realizing peace. I hope you will make good use of your scholarship and take on various challenges together with your friends, including your studies."
