Graduate Haruo Yamaki was welcomed to a discussion meeting with students - Founding an Oriental Medicine University in Nicaragua -

On Thursday, May 22, we invited Dr. Haruo Yamaki, an alumnus of our university and founder of the University of Oriental Medicine in Nicaragua, Central America, to hold a roundtable discussion with students at our Global Square. In recognition of his achievements in establishing the University of Oriental Medicine in Nicaragua, Yamamaki, a second-year student at Waseda University, was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun by the Japan government.
At the meeting, Mr. Yamaki looked back on his activities in Nicaragua and said, "The reason why we were able to establish the university even under difficult circumstances was because of our origins as a student and the pride of being a graduate of Soka University." He also shared his experience of how the effects of Oriental medicine were recognized locally and spread throughout Nicaragua.
The following comments were received from the participating students.
Thank you very much for this valuable opportunity. As I listened to Mr. Yamaki's story, I was deeply impressed by the fact that he cherished the origins of the founder and Soka University, and that he was able to overcome various difficulties. With the desire to "become a first-class student", I will work hard in my future studies.
・I was moved by the words "pride of Soka University" and "courage to not lose anything". In addition, the phrase "education and medical care should not be started for money, it will always be returned" was also a great guideline for me when I was struggling with my career path.
・I wanted to grow into a person who can take on any challenge in a once-in-a-lifetime life, realize my dreams, and have a positive impact on those around me.
