ICU student wins top prize at business contest held at the 71st International Student Conference
On August 31, at the 71st International Student Conference (ISC) Business Contest, Mei Nishizawa, a first-year student at our Faculty of International Liberal Arts university, won the grand prize.
The International Student Conference was a student-led conference established in 1954 and was held in Osaka from August 23 to August 31. Students from all over the world gathered in Japan to make policy proposals in line with the theme of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, "Design for a Future Society with Shining Life," and competed in business plans. Seven students from our university participated and deepened their exchanges with participants of various nationalities.
Under the theme of "Future Communities & Mobility," Mr. Nishizawa's group focused on the problem of vacant houses in rural areas, where the population is aging and declining significantly compared to urban areas, and proposed policies aimed at building communities that benefit both local and new residents.
Nishizawa said, "I was very nervous when the results were announced, but after the announcement, we shared our joy in each other's native languages and realized the friendship that transcended borders.
