Our students held the local event "The 4th Mulberry Day Well Festival" in Hachioji city - See, eat, and play! Experience the charm of "Mulberry City, Hachioji"

On Sunday, September 7, Soka University Faculty of Letters Hannah Seminar (Social Welfare) co-hosted the "4th Mulberry Day Welfare" at Park Ichibangai Street in Hachioji City, in collaboration with Soki Co., Ltd., which provides edible mulberry from Hachioji as green juice and powder to restaurants in the city (supported by Hachioji City/Japan Heritage "Kuwato Monogatari" Promotion Council/Hachioji City Board of Education).

Hachioji City, where Soka University is located, is known as the city of mulberry because of its historical sericulture and weaving industry. The Soka University Kuwa Day Welfare Executive Committee (Nishikawa Seminar, Soki Co., Ltd.) is developing activities aimed at regional development, health promotion, and sustainable development of mulberry fields that protect the land of Hachioji, while shedding light on the history and culture of Hachioji. This event is held every year to coincide with September 8th, which is "Mulberry Day", and this is the fourth time.

On the day of the event, in addition to exhibiting and selling food products using Hachioji mulberry powder (Sokeio), there were events related to "mulberry" by students and local companies, such as the distribution of the original Sugoroku "Hachioji Past and Present Soroku" produced by Faculty of Letters Nishikawa Seminar, and the introduction of local activities of Faculty of Science and Engineering Maruta Shinsaku Seminar.
In addition, the venue was decorated with shooting and cotton candy provided by Soka University's Children's Cultural Research Department and performances by Soka Magican's Program.
