The baseball team competes well, making it to the top four in the 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship

Starting pitcher Ishida threw a powerful pitch

The semi-final of the 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship, a competition for the Yokohama Mayor's Cup, was held at Yokohama Stadium on Tuesday, November 4th, with the Soka University baseball team facing off against Kanagawa University (ranked 1st in the Kanagawa University Baseball League) and losing narrowly 3-4.

In the top of the first inning, Soka University created a chance with two outs and the bases loaded thanks to a hit by leadoff hitter Masaki Oshima (4th year), and a timely hit by No. 6 Taizo Suzuki (2nd year) gave them a 2-run lead. They added another run in the top of the third inning due to an error by the opposing team. After giving up two runs in the bottom of the third, neither team scored from the fourth inning onwards, leading to a one-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning. They had the opponent on their back foot with just one more pitch, but they were eventually hit with a game-winning home run, bringing the game to a close. Starting pitcher Ryoma Ishida (4th year) pitched until the end, walking no batters and striking out seven.

Captain Masahiro Tateishi said, "I would like to express my gratitude to my teammates who have fought alongside us until today and to everyone who has supported us. Each and every member of the team will do our best to move on to the next stage."

Thank you for your enthusiastic support for the baseball team.
