The baseball team advances to the top eight in the 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship!

The 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship, a competition for the Yokohama Mayor's Cup, kicked off at Yokohama Stadium on Sunday, November 2nd. The Soka University baseball team defeated Chiba Keizai University (2nd place in the Chiba Prefectural University Baseball League) 9-3, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Soka University took the lead in the top of the second inning with a two-run home run by No. 6 Taizo Suzuki (2nd year). In the top of the fourth inning, No. 7 Shuto Yamada (2nd year) added another run with a timely hit. Then, in the top of the fifth inning, No. 3 Masahiro Tateishi (4th year) hit a two-run liner in the opposite direction to widen the lead. On the pitching side, starting pitcher Ryoma Ishida (4th year) allowed only two runs in six innings, and pitchers Yuu Saito (4th year) and Taiyo Yamazaki (4th year) took turns pitching to close out the game.

The quarterfinals will be held on the second day of the tournament, Monday, November 3rd (national holiday), at 1pm (scheduled) at Yokohama Stadium against Jobu University (1st place in the Kanto Koshin Student Baseball League). We appreciate your continued support.
