The baseball team advances to the top four in the 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship!
The quarterfinals of the 21st Kanto Regional University Baseball Championship, a competition for the Yokohama Mayor's Cup, were held at Yokohama Stadium on Monday, November 3rd (national holiday), with the Soka University baseball team defeating Jobu University (ranked 1st in the Kanto Koshin Student Baseball League) 6-1 to advance to the semifinals.
In the top of the first inning, Soka University took a two-run lead with an RBI double by No. 5 Rui Yamada (3rd year). In the top of the third inning, No. 7 Shuto Yamada (2nd year) added another run with an RBI double. The batting line continued to connect, including a RBI hit by No. 3 Masahiro Tateishi (4th year), widening the lead. On the pitching side, starting pitcher Yu Saito (4th year) pitched well and steadily, allowing only one run in eight innings, and pitcher Taiyo Yamazaki (4th year) retired all three batters.
The semi-final will be held on the third day of the tournament, Tuesday, November 4th, at 10:30am at Yokohama Stadium, where we will face Kanagawa University (1st place in the Kanagawa University Baseball League). We appreciate your continued support.
