Faculty of Business Administration ・Yasuda Seminar won the Grand Prize and Jury Award in the "65th Inner Conference Presentation Division"!
On Sunday, November 30, the final round of the "65th (2025) Inner Conference Presentation Category" hosted by the Kanto Association of the Japan Student Economics Seminar was held at the Soka University Discovery Hall. Our University Faculty of Business Administration ・Yasuda Seminar's Team SPARK won the Grand Prize (1st place), and Team Zinnia won the Jury Prize (3rd place).
105 teams from 20 universities participated in this tournament. Of these, 10 teams that made it through the preliminary round participated in the finals, and Soka University participated in the Yasuda Seminar's Team SPARK and Team Zinnia. Team SPARK, which won the grand prize (1st place), focuses on the problem of shoplifting in supermarkets, which has become more serious in recent years. We cooperated with a security system company to create an educational video to deter shoplifting, and reported on its effectiveness.
The jury prize-winning team Zinnia took issue with the fact that many of the non-edible parts of the managed captured deer were discarded. We devised a measure to use discarded parts as materials for pet food and reported on the effects.
SPARK team leader, Taito Watanabe, said, "We were able to achieve this result thanks to the tremendous support of many people and the dedication of our team members. We came close to giving up many times amidst the difficulties, but the presence of our teammates supported us. The tournament is still on, but we will stay focused and continue to give it our all."
Zinnia team leader Karin Matsumura also commented, "We have faced many difficulties up until now, but we have overcome them in a positive manner, which is sure to be meaningful, and have approached the tournament. However, as a leader, I feel regret and responsibility that we were unable to win. We will use this experience as motivation to reexamine why we learn and fight, and apply it to future tournaments and our university life."
