Members of our university's Ekiden club served as instructors at a track and field class at Hachioji City Narahara Elementary School

On Thursday, February 26th, an "Athletics Class" was held in the gymnasium of Hachioji Municipal Narahara Elementary School for the entire school of approximately 300 students. Coach Tsukitate Yosuke, and third-year athletes Ikebe Kotaro and Kawakami Shota (third-year) from the university's track and field and relay team served as lecturers.

This class, which was held for the fourth time, is held by the school, inviting external lecturers to teach elementary school students how to run properly and the joy of exercise.

During the track and field class, the Ekiden Club demonstrated the movements and rhythmic skipping they have adopted, and carefully taught each and every technique for using the body to run fast. Afterwards, the children followed the Ekiden Club members around the gymnasium, experiencing the speed of the Hakone Ekiden up close.

Elementary school students who participated commented, "I was surprised at how fast the university students were," and "It was tiring, but fun."
