President Suzuki gave a lecture at the 'Cho Young-sik Daisaku Ikeda Peace Forum 2026' held in Kyung Hee University, South Korea

On Saturday, May 16, the "Cho Young-sik Daisaku Ikeda Peace Forum 2026" was held in Kyung Hee University, Korea, an exchange school of our university, where President Mika Suzuki delivered a keynote speech. The exchange between the two universities began in 1997, starting with the meeting of our founder, Professor Daisaku Ikeda, and Dr. Cho Young-sik, the founder of Kyung Hee University. This Peace Forum was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the "Cho Young-sik Daisaku Ikeda Study Group," with the theme "Autopia—The Role of Human Education and Scholarship—."

At the opening ceremony, following a greeting by President Ha Young-ae, former Prime Minister Lee Soo-sung delivered a congratulatory address, honoring the great achievements of both founders and their contributions to peace. In the keynote speech, President Jin-Sang Kim of the university took the stage and emphasized the commonality between Dr. Cho Young-sik's 'human-centered philosophy' and Professor Ikeda's 'human revolution' philosophy, both aimed for human peace. He spoke about the importance of fostering global citizens to overcome modern challenges.

Next, President Suzuki took the stage and addressed the importance of human education aimed at the university's "A university that fosters 'global citizens' that can create value" initiative and our educational practices, stating, "In today's world, where a better society is being formed through emotional transformation, I am confident that inheriting the founders' aspirations and pursuing further collaborative development will be a great force contributing to solving global challenges."

Additionally, on Friday the 15th, President Suzuki held a press conference with Chairman Cho In-won and others at Kyung Hee University. At the press conference, they exchanged views on further promoting inter-university and inter-faculty exchanges in preparation for the 30th anniversary of the exchange agreement between the two universities next year. Chairman Zhao Renyuan stated, "University education is for future generations, and I hope that the two universities will develop broader exchanges, maintain their relationship, and build a strong partnership going forward."
