Soka University ranked first nationwide in the "SDG 4: Quality Education" category of "THE Sustainability Impact Rating 2026" - and ranked 11th nationwide overall.

In the overall ranking of the "THE Sustainability Impact Rating 2026" (announced June 24, 2026), Soka University was ranked tied for 11th nationwide and tied for 4th among private universities nationwide (ranked 601-800 worldwide).

In the SDG rankings, it tied for first place nationwide (ranked 401-600th globally) in the field of "SDG4: Quality Education." Since its founding, our university has been highly praised for its achievements in education under the philosophy of 'students first,' as well as our widely open educational practices such as Distance Learning Division and public lectures.

Furthermore, in the "SDG14: Protect the Richness of the Oceans," the international research activities of the Faculty of Science and Engineering were recognized, ranking 2nd nationwide and tied for 1st among private universities nationwide (ranked 101-200 worldwide). In "SDG12: Responsible Production, Responsible Use," our university's efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality in procurement and disposal were recognized, ranking tied for 4th nationwide and 2nd among private universities nationwide (ranked 201st-300th globally).

This ranking is announced by the UK higher education journal Times Higher Education (THE), and it evaluates and visualizes universities' contributions to sustainability based on the framework of the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) (formerly THE Impact Ranking). In 2026, 1,646 schools from 116 countries and regions worldwide will be included in the overall rankings.

In 2019, our university established the SDGs Promotion Center, positioning SDGs as a priority item alongside education, research, and diversity in its medium- to long-term plan "Soka University Grand Design 2021-2030." Going forward, faculty, staff, and students will continue to work together to further promote initiatives toward achieving the SDGs.
