Professor Yukio Maeda of the University of Faculty of Law presented his research at the 2025 International Council for Children's Books (IBBY) Asia-Pacific Conference held in Suwon, South Korea on August 30 and 31.

The conference was held under the unified theme of "Living in Harmony with Our Planet", and Professor Maeda said, "From Sustainability to Habitability: Teaching Climate Crisis and Soil Revitalization Through Ghibli Films and Satoyama Practices We presented on the theme.

In this report, we reported that through integrated learning opportunities that combine "(1) Studio Ghibli's video works" and "(2) land restoration practices in Japan's satoyamas", children can become aware of climate change and biodiversity issues with their five senses. Beyond the concept of sustainability, attempts to connect education, culture, and the environment from the perspective of protecting the "habitability" of the earth were introduced, and participants were very interested.

Professor Maeda said, "It was a great asset to be able to connect with many researchers from around the world who are interested in the unified theme of the conference. I would like to connect the feedback I received this time to the development of future research."
