A paper by Professor Makoto Masui of Faculty of Economics, "Endogenous female labour force participation and their attachment to the labour market", has been published in the international academic journal "LABOUR: Review of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations". It was published in.

This paper analyzes whether policies aimed at promoting women's employment in Japan are effective in preventing female workers from leaving their jobs when life events occur.

Regarding the publication, Professor Masui said, "The employment rate for women in Japan is on the rise, but there are still people who leave their jobs when life events such as marriage and childbirth occur. In this paper, we analyzed whether implementing policies to encourage women to work, such as encouraging men to take parental leave and increasing the number of daycare centers, will increase the proportion of women who remain in the labor market when a life event occurs. The analysis showed that the proportion of women who remain in the labor market may actually decrease. Therefore, it became clear that, in addition to policies aimed at increasing the employment rate, the introduction of more effective measures to prevent women from leaving the labor market is needed."
