An article co-authored by Lecturer Masahide Tsuda of the Faculty of Education at our university has been published in the August 2026 issue of "Mathematics Education," an educational journal published by Meiji Tosho Publishing.
"Mathematics Education" is a specialized journal that disseminates practical information and research findings on mathematics education in junior and senior high schools, and is widely used by educators. In this issue's special feature, under the theme of "How AI will change mathematics education," researchers and practitioners involved in mathematics education discuss from various perspectives how the latest AI technology will bring about changes in lesson planning, material creation, assessment, and school administration support.
In Professor Tsuda's article, titled "Re-examining Students' Understanding of Meaning and Deepening Their Understanding of Function Concepts," he examines the ideal form of learning required in the coming era from a practical perspective in the educational setting.
Regarding the publication, Lecturer Tsuda stated, "My main research focus is on elementary arithmetic, but I am also interested in mathematics education across a wide range of age groups, including middle and high school mathematics. I hope that this publication will provide an opportunity to reconsider the kind of arithmetic and mathematics education required in the coming era, including the utilization of generative AI."
