"Cognitive Clinical Psychology: Understanding Mental Pathologies through Memory and Learning," edited by Lecturer Masato Nihei of the Faculty of Education at this university, was published by Kitaoji Shobo on September 25th.
This book discusses how to understand psychopathological problems such as anxiety, fear, and depression, and what kind of clinical psychological support is possible, based on findings from experimental psychology fields such as cognitive psychology and learning psychology. In this book, Lecturer Nihei has written chapters that mainly cover research findings on "fear conditioning," which deals with the formation and disappearance of fear and anxiety, and research findings on "avoidance behavior," which is the behavior of avoiding unpleasant things.
Regarding the publication, Lecturer Nihei commented, "I believe there are many people who suffer from anxiety and fear, or who have their lives disrupted and face difficulties due to excessively avoiding unpleasant things. Through the publication of this book, I hope that understanding and intervening in these problems based on research findings on anxiety, fear, and avoidance behavior will become the standard for clinical psychological support. I also believe that students who are interested in these themes and issues will find the content interesting."
In addition, Associate Professor Shuhei Iimura of the Faculty of Education has contributed columns to this book, writing about his area of expertise, differential sensitivity theory.
