To smoothly and effectively train researchers and highly skilled professionals
If we were to sum up the distinctive feature of Graduate School of Law in one word, it would be that we promote education and research in law and political science that aims to be practical and value-creating scholarship, not simply academic study. We always keep in mind "the position of the people" and "the position of the common people," and aim to research and teach "scholarship for the people." As part of its educational philosophy, faculty members respect the personalities of students without wielding their authority as professors, and students respect faculty members as scholars, and together they work hard together to hone their personalities through academic study. This can be said to be a major distinctive feature of Graduate School of Law.
First year
Build a foundation for learning and choose your field of specialization
In order to accommodate the diverse needs of students, students choose either the "Master's Thesis Writing Course" or the "Research Paper Writing Course" upon enrollment. In the first semester, which marks the beginning of their studies, students take "core subjects" to provide a systematic education and acquire the knowledge that will form the foundation of their specialized research.
Second Year
Deepen your specialized research and aim to obtain a degree
From the second to fourth semesters, students will earn the required credits to complete the course. Many of the "Special Thesis" courses are categorized as "Subject Groups" to make it easier for students to choose courses, allowing them to take courses that suit their interests. To receive a master's degree, students must write a master's thesis or research paper, pass its defense, and pass a final oral examination.
