SDGs Promotion Center
Message President
Since its founding in 1971, Soka University has been committed to nurturing "global citizens" who are willing to face the challenges of global society and boldly take on the challenge of realizing peace, based on Founding Spirit of peace, culture, and education based on the dignity of life.
Based on this philosophy, we opened the SDGs Promotion Center in April 2019 with the aim of actively contributing to the realization of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. In addition, in our new mid- to long-term plan "Soka University Grand Design 2021-2030" looking ahead to our 60th anniversary, we have set the SDGs as one of the four priority themes, and faculty, staff, and students have joined forces to begin multifaceted and concrete efforts.
As a university that nurtures "global citizens" who persevere in creating value under any circumstances, we will continue to promote education and research aimed at achieving the SDGs, aiming to realize a global society in which "no one is left behind."
Message Director
The SDGs Promotion Center, established in April 2019, aims to promote the university's SDGs projects in cooperation with stakeholders inside and outside the university. Specifically, based on the "Soka University Grand Design 2021-2030," we are implementing various initiatives to promote the SDGs, and we publish the progress and results of these initiatives in the "SDGs Report" every July. We have also begun exchanges and cooperation with high schools through high school-university collaboration. As a university, we will continue to steadily and quickly advance our activities until the target year for the SDGs.
Faculty, staff, and students will continue to work together to create a sustainable campus and contribute to the development of the local community.

We are seeking submissions of initiatives that have contributed to achieving the SDGs.
(2) Type B: "Highly feasible ideas that contribute to achieving the SDGs"
We are seeking concrete and feasible ideas for achieving the SDGs. If your idea requires funding to implement, we may provide a grant of up to 500,000 yen after review.
(3) Type C: "Continuing projects toward achieving the SDGs"
We are now accepting applications from projects that have previously received grants under the "Type B" category and wish to receive additional funding (up to 500,000 yen) for further development and continuation.
