The Global Program (GP) is a group of courses taught in English that are unique to Faculty of Business Administration, with the aim of cultivating professional human resources with an international perspective. The core course is called the "GP Mission," and students travel overseas to listen to English lectures by leading experts from international organizations and graduate schools. A mission means a mission-driven assignment, and as a representative of Soka University students, students learn about activities, research, and education related to "business as global citizens" at the forefront of the world. Specialized courses are set throughout the four years that thoroughly teach the basics of business English and continue to teach "business and management" in English. Faculty of Business Administration has a mechanism to "light the fire in the spirit of learning."
As for overseas destinations, students will mainly travel to European countries such as France, but will also turn their attention to Asia, which is currently experiencing rapid development, and will strengthen fieldwork in Asian regions such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Students will further their understanding by attending lectures by local university and NPO personnel on the initiatives of Asian countries, such as SRI (socially responsible investment), an investment method that uses the perspective of CSR (corporate social responsibility). In this way, students will acquire specialized economic and cultural knowledge not only about Japan, but also about countries in Europe and Asia.

A global program to improve English skills and prepare students for entrepreneurship and international business.
The distinctive feature of the Global Program (GP) is that overseas on-site training is the main part of the curriculum. It is generally said that students only remember about 15% of lectures at a desk, but it has been reported that students remember about 85% of what they actually experience on the ground. The GP curriculum fosters knowledge and wisdom from a global perspective by experiencing the business world. In addition, receiving live lectures in English from direct personnel at international organizations, international NGOs, and the headquarters of multinational corporations is an ideal opportunity to hone the knowledge and sense required for international talent. The content is comparable to that of graduate school level.

The GP mission is carried out in the following order: domestic training camp, intensive lectures, discussions → preliminary survey of the destination → overseas training visit → preparation of a training report (in English). With support from faculty and staff, students take the lead and work together to jointly manage the mission, which helps to develop each student's potential and increase their motivation. At the same time, students can experience the front lines of business and management. They will gain a sense for playing an active role on the international stage in the future and discover a wide range of opportunities. In addition, students will take Business English classes to acquire business English skills such as English conversation and writing ability, so they will be able to acquire more practical business English.

GP Europe 2012 received high praise on the Centre for Humanistic Management website!
The Humanistic Management Center is an international research organization established in Geneva, Switzerland, with the aim of spreading and developing humanistic management worldwide, with the participation of world-class researchers and consultants. The Center has attracted the attention of Amartya Sen, the first Asian recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economics, and Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient who has also received honorary doctorates from Hokkaido University and Northeastern University. On the website of the Humanistic Management Center, which has attracted worldwide attention, a presentation given by a student of our university at a workshop held at the United Nations/International Labor Organization (ILO) headquarters in Geneva and at the World Council of Churches (WCC) as part of our university's Global Program Europe 2012 was introduced and highly praised.
The presentation included a case study of a Japanese company based on the principles of humanistic management, and the three main principles of humanistic management from a Japanese perspective. The students were praised for their high level of understanding in the ensuing discussion and exchange of opinions.

In the summer of 2011, the Global Program (GP) Asia toured three countries: Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Not only did the students directly experience English lectures, but they also gave presentations in English, which were broadcast from Soka University to Asia and garnered a great response.
GP America
The first GP America was held in the spring of 2011, and the second in the spring of 2012.
The theme of the program was business management that tackles environmental issues, and it was a valuable opportunity to experience firsthand the feel of the American world.

Testimonials
2019 "The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Business School" Kazuki Sawai
I studied abroad in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's largest commercial city, for about half a year as part of the Global Program (GP) at Faculty of Business Administration. I spent two semesters (about seven months) studying at The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City 's special program called the International School of Business with local students and international students.

2019 "The University of Rennes 1 Business School, France" Sena Fujii
I studied business administration at the IGR-IAE business school at the University of Rennes 1. I took five courses: Marketing retailing and sales promotion, Neuromarketing, Human Resource Management, Financial Diagnosis, European Legal Environment, and French (debutant).

The "GP Asia" training is a short-term overseas training program held by Faculty of Business Administration every summer. A leader in active learning
Currently, universities across the country are shifting to teaching methods in which students take the initiative in their learning. Our department was one of the earliest adopters of active learning, and has earned a high reputation among universities nationwide for its use of this method in classes.
Active learning
Active learning refers to an initiative in which students actively participate in their learning. In order to develop the basic social skills required by society (communication skills, problem-finding and problem-solving skills, etc.), active learning, in which students learn independently, is ideal. Our faculty was an early adopter of active learning, and is currently implementing it in many classes. We have been publicly recognized as one of the top faculties in Japan that is revolutionizing university education with active learning.
The aim of active learning is to make knowledge one's own and to promote proactive learning activities that allow one to put that knowledge to use. It is an effective way to turn the knowledge learned in lectures into "wisdom."
Active Learning Curriculum
In Faculty of Business Administration, students are able to take seminars continuously over the four years of their studies, and together with related lectures, they aim to acquire the desired skills through step-by-step, advanced active learning.

Characteristics of active learning
Group exercises
In order to acquire problem-solving skills, students will be organized into teams of four and conduct research activities in groups. Collaborative learning will be carried out within the group.

presentation
In the seminars, emphasis is placed on the presentation of research results. Participants compete in preliminary and final rounds to produce highly refined research results.

debate
We will hold thorough debates on the main points both inside and outside of the seminar. By repeatedly supporting and defending your arguments, you will improve your logic. You will also acquire dialogue skills to find common ground.

Fieldwork
In Faculty of Business Administration, students visit companies and specialized institutions in Japan and overseas to receive lectures, hear from, and observe leading experts. Students also take part in company tours and overseas training programs through global programs, where they conduct on-site research and experience while taking an active role in their learning.

Thorough implementation of the PDCA cycle
In Faculty of Business Administration, active learning is not done on the spot, but rather results are left on paper. This allows students to reflect on their learning outcomes, and students and faculty can check and improve whether they have acquired the necessary skills, creating a cycle of P (Plan), D (Do), C (Check), and A (Amend).
Reversed learning using the LTD learning method
Faculty of Business Administration has adopted the LTD (Learning Through Discussion) method of study. LTD is a learning method centered on preparation and discussion (meetings). Students study the study materials on their own to understand the content, and create preparation notes that serve as clues for discussion. During class discussions, students do not use textbooks but instead use their preparation notes to deepen their discussions and understanding of the study materials. Faculty members are not directly involved in the discussions, and instead value the students' realizations and the learning process.
The graduation thesis as the culmination of active learning
In Faculty of Business Administration, seminars are compulsory, and all students must take seminars in their third and fourth years. Then, at the end of their fourth year, students are required to write and submit a graduation thesis as the culmination of their student life. When writing this thesis, students must study independently and write the thesis autonomously. It can be said that this is the best opportunity that includes all the elements of active learning.
