Public relations magazine "SUN"

In this issue, we focus on "connections with people" as the driving force that drives Soka University and Junior College students to surpass the growth curve they envisioned when they enrolled. Through interviews with students and graduates who were greatly influenced by their seniors, classmates, and faculty and staff, we introduce stories of how they broke through their limits through "connections." The comedy duo "Knights," who are graduates of our university, also cooperated in the discussion project. In addition, as a joint project between SUN and the official Soka University Instagram, we are publishing posts by students that could not be introduced in the magazine under the theme "#Breaking through Limits with Connections." In addition, "Over the Border" is packed with content such as an interview with four siblings who are international students from Malaysia, an academic exploration, regrets from the 3rd "SOKA Photo Contest," and "The Tasuki of 'Bonds'," which delivers the current state of club activities.

This issue begins with a dialogue between marketing analyst Yohei Harada, who has been following the trends of young people such as Gen Z, and Associate Professor Megumi Yamazaki of Graduate School of Teacher Education. In the feature titled "Imagining the Future of Possibilities through Minor Majors," we introduce our university's unique minor major system, which allows students to learn a wide range of subjects across faculties, including the "SDGs minor" that will be launched this year, as well as data science and EMP. In addition, as a joint project between SUN and the official Soka University Instagram, we plan to collect and post the voices of Soka University and junior college students about "what they focused on during their student days" under the theme of "Gakuchika." In addition, there are many other contents, such as a page introducing the career paths of this March's graduates, "Over the Border" introducing graduates who are active overseas, academic exploration, a "Thank You" project where students and parents can share their thoughts, and "The Tasuku of 'Bonds'" which delivers the current status of club activities. The 114th issue (July 2022 issue) of Soka University News "SUN", our university's public relations magazine, has been completed. This issue begins with a dialogue between economic thinker Saito Kohei, author of the best-selling book "Capital in the Anthropocene" which has sold over 450,000 copies, and Professor Ito Takao of our Faculty of Letters of Letters. In a special feature titled "#MyGrowth", we will interview students and graduates to find out about episodes in which they felt they had "grown" during their university and junior college life. In addition, as a joint project between the public relations magazine SUN and Twitter, Soka University and junior college students will tweet about their own growth during their student life with the hashtag "MyGrowth". The 113th issue (April 2022 issue) of our university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. This issue begins with a dialogue between the new President, Masashi Suzuki and Yasuko Kimura (the first principal of Osaka Municipal Ozora Elementary School in Osaka Prefecture), who was the model for the movie "Minna no Gakkou" (Everybody's School). In the special feature titled "Discover SOKA", we explore the charm of the campus that nurtures the individuality of students from the four perspectives of "gathering", "learning", "relaxing", and "polishing". In addition, the issue is packed with content such as President 's vision for Soka University and Soka Women’s College College in 2022, a new project "&SDGs" that introduces the university's efforts in the SDGs, "Over the Border" that introduces graduates, a "Thank You" project where students and parents can share their thoughts, and an introduction to the career paths of graduates. In addition, the "Kaiso Photo Gallery" column, which was serialized on the back cover as part of our 50th anniversary project to introduce nostalgic photos and essays, ended with the previous issue. Starting with this issue, we will be introducing a new series titled "The Tasuki of Bonds," which will introduce images of students devoting themselves to club activities and the like.

Soka University News "SUN" No. 112 (January 2022), the university's PR magazine, is now available. This issue features a conversation between Ms. NON (actress, creative artist and film director) and Professor Yukio SUGIYAMA (Faculty of Letters), as well as a special feature entitled "Create Next! The feature article introduces four case studies of "Data Science Education," "Life Science," "Community Creation," and "SDGs" as examples of evolving and deepening "global citizen education. In addition, the magazine features a special section on the Hakone Ekiden relay race, "Over the Border" introducing alumni, "Brain Science and Global Citizen Education" in the "Academic Exploration" section, and a "Thank You" project in which students and parents share their thoughts and feelings with each other. In the "Kaiso Photo Gallery," you can see photos from the inauguration celebration at Central Tower.

The 111th issue (October 2021 issue) of Soka University News "SUN", our university's public relations magazine, has been completed. This issue has the theme of "SDGs", and features a dialogue between Rina Akimoto, representative of "Tabechoku", and Associate Professor Masanori Yasuda of our university's Faculty of Business Administration, as well as a special feature introducing the SDGs activities of Soka University and Junior College through a roundtable discussion with four representative students. Other features include Over the Border, which introduces graduates, the "Thank You" project - Okinawa edition, where students and parents share their thoughts, an academic tour "SDGs and Human Rights Education", entrance exam information, campus news, and much more. The "Kaiso Photo Gallery" features photos of the lobby of Building A at the 4th Soka University Festival.

The 110th issue (July 2021 issue) of our university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. This issue features a dialogue between TV personality and film commentator LiLiCo and Associate Professor Daniel Sasaki of Faculty of International Liberal Arts at our university, and a special feature on the theme of "50 Years of Study Abroad", introducing the results of our international exchange efforts through interviews with people who have studied abroad. In addition, the issue is packed with useful information such as advice from students to those taking entrance exams, as part of a "Summer Study Tips Special".

The 109th issue (April 2021 issue) of Soka University News "SUN", our university's public relations magazine, has been completed. This issue commemorates the 50th anniversary of the founding of the university, and includes a dialogue between Athens Olympic gold medalist Mizuki Noguchi and our university's Ekiden team coach Kazuki Enoki, as well as a special feature that delivers encouragement from graduates to Soka University and current students as they move forward into the future. Other features include President 's vision for 2021, a "Thank You" project for students and parents to share their thoughts in the Kansai region, an academic tour of "DX in university education", career paths of graduates, campus news, and much more. The "Kaiso Photo Gallery" features a photo of the bronze statue in front of the Humanities Building A.

The 108th issue (January 2021 issue) of our university's newsletter, Soka University News "SUN" has been completed. In this issue, we invited the entertainment industry rakugo performer Hayashiya Taihei to our university to talk with Associate Professor Adachi Hiromi of Faculty of Education on the theme of "Challenges in the COVID-19 Pandemic"! In the "Focus Soka" project, which explores the charms of Soka University, we introduce Soka University students who practice value creation in their respective fields, such as student dormitories, job hunting, and international student associations, under the title "Current Status of Soka University Students", and also feature Distance Learning Division and Soka Women’s College College, which celebrated its 35th anniversary. In addition, in the "Over the border" project, which introduces graduates who are active overseas, we introduce Mitsuo Komuro (30th term, Faculty of Economics, 2005 graduate), who is active in Shanghai, China. In addition, we have a lot of other content, such as the Ekiden Club's success in the Hakone Ekiden, the "Thank You Project" Kanto Edition, where students and parents share their thoughts, an academic exploration "How to rectify mental disorders", campus news, and more. The Kaisou Photo Gallery features the Manyo House and the Classical House.

The 107th issue (October 2020 issue) of our university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. In this issue, we introduce graduates who are active on the front lines of society to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This time, we feature those who are working hard in the fields of medicine, social welfare, tourism, and sports. In addition, we also publish information about how we are working to prevent infection as some face-to-face classes will resume in the fall semester. In addition, we introduce a page introducing the new entrance examination system and research being undertaken by two faculty members Faculty of Science and Engineering. There is a lot of news about the university and students. The "Kaiso Photo Gallery" features a photo of the main gate around 1976.

The 106th issue (July 2020 issue) of the university's newsletter, Soka University News "SUN" has been completed. In the "Focus Soka" project, which explores the appeal of Soka University, we will take up the mid- to long-term plan "Soka University Grand Design 2021-2030" aiming for 2030, and will approach the four themes of education, research, SDGs, and diversity through interviews with students, graduates, and faculty. In addition, we will deliver an interview with Hidenori Nagai (22nd Soka University class), who contributed to the realization of PCR testing in a short time as a graduate who is challenging the coronavirus, as well as the university's efforts to support students studying during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 105th issue (April 2020 issue) of the university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. In this issue, we have a dialogue between Rieko Suzuki, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of SDGs Promise Japan, and Professor Satoshi Sasaki of the Faculty of Nursing, and in the "Over the border" project introducing alumni who are active overseas, we introduce Takayuki Tateishi (18th term, Faculty of Economics, 1993 graduate), CEO of Sint-Truiden VV in Belgium. In the "Focus Soka University" project, which explores the charms of Soka University, we will deliver an interview with two current students who have used their learning in the first and second years to further explore their dreams and carry out projects overseas as "Actions for Tomorrow". In addition, there is a lot of news, such as the "Thank You" project Tohoku edition, where students and parents share their thoughts, the academic exploration "Pragmatism", and university and student news. The 104th issue (January 2020 issue) of the university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN" has been completed. This issue begins with a special feature summarizing the achievements of our university's Ekiden team in the Hakone Ekiden, a dialogue between professional wheelchair athlete Jun Hiromichi and Associate Professor Maki Tsuruta Faculty of Education, and a feature "Over the border" that interviews graduates who are active overseas, introducing Seiji Ota (21st term, Faculty of Law, 1994 graduate) who is active in Gurgaon, India. In addition, "Focus Soka University", which explores the charm of Soka University, introduces graduates who are demonstrating their abilities and active in their own places despite various handicaps as "Beyond the invisible wall". In addition, the "Thank you project" where students and parents communicate their thoughts is a central edition, an academic exploration "Intercultural Understanding", campus news, and many more. The 103rd issue (October 2019 issue) of our university's newsletter, Soka University News "SUN" has been completed. In this issue, we have a dialogue between Vice President Ryohei Tanaka and Rika Sueyoshi, who is the representative director of the Ethical Association and also active as a TV personality, and in the "Over the border" project, which interviews graduates who are active overseas, we introduce Minoru Ogasawara, who works as an employee of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Côte d'Ivoire. In addition, in the "Focus Soka University" section, which explores the appeal of Soka University, we have interviewed students and graduates about their efforts and activities in regional revitalization, international cooperation, refugee issues, etc., as "the first step to changing the world". In addition, the "Thank You Project" where students and parents share their thoughts is a Kyushu edition, an academic exploration of the "Marine Plastic Waste Problem", a home visit program for international students, campus news, and many more. In this issue, we have a dialogue between entertainer Saher and Professor Masashi Nakayama of Faculty of Law, and in the "Over the border" project introducing alumni who are active overseas, we introduce Tadaaki Yamamoto (36th class, Faculty of Faculty of Letters, 2010 graduate), who is a rugby coach in Uzbekistan as a member of the JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers. In addition, in the new "Focus Soka University" project that explores the charms of Soka University, we focus on short-term overseas training among the many study abroad programs as a "study abroad recommendation", and deliver student experiences, gourmet information at the destination, and information on useful items to bring. In addition, there is a lot of stuff such as the "Thank you" project Hokkaido edition where students and parents communicate their thoughts, the academic exploration "Language Education", university and student news. "Bungaku no Ike" is featured in the "Kaiso Photo Gallery".

The 101st issue (April 2019 issue) of our university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. Starting with this issue, the design and planning have been completely renewed in preparation for the 50th anniversary of our founding in 2021, and the page condenses our university's efforts to cultivate creative global citizens. This issue marks a new start, and features a special dialogue between celebrities who capture the current state of our university from a fresh perspective, such as a dialogue between celebrity and businessman Bobby Ologun and Associate Professor Michiyo Kakegawa of the Faculty of Faculty of Economics, and a new feature called "Over the border" introducing Momoko Kurihara (36th term, Faculty Faculty of Law, 2010 graduate) who works at the Consulate General of Japan in Leon, Mexico. Other features include the 2019 Soka University and Soka Women’s College President Vision, a "Thank You" project where students and parents can share their thoughts, career introductions for graduates, academic exploration, university and student news, and the "Kaiso Photo Gallery" which reminisces about our university's history through nostalgic photos and essays.

The 100th issue (January 2019 issue) of our university's public relations magazine, Soka University News "SUN", has been completed. Since the first issue was published in 1994, it has been published repeatedly for 25 years. This issue has the theme of "Our origins and challenges for the future" and features alumni who are active in various fields of society, such as Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles batting coach Eiichi Kotani and comedy duo Knights. Other features include an interview with Chairperson, Board of Trustees Yasunori Tashiro titled "The journey of the 100th issue: Prospects for the 50th anniversary of the founding," a "survey of current students and alumni" conducted by student public relations staff, academic exploration, and university and student news.

This issue is a special feature on SDGs! We will introduce the special feature "SDGs Special Discussion Yoshimoto Kogyo x Soka University," the SDGs that Soka University is working on, and familiar SDGs that readers can put into practice. In addition, in the academic exploration section, we will introduce Professor Furuya Ken of the Graduate School of Engineering, who received the Prime Minister's Award at the 11th Maritime Nation Promotion Merit Awards this summer. The magazine also features enthusiasm for the Hakone Ekiden qualifying round and various university and student news.

This issue introduces Soka University's global initiatives. Feature 1 introduces the university's achievement of receiving an S rating in the mid-term evaluation of the "Top Global University Project" and the history of exchanges with African universities. Feature 2 reports on the annual general meeting of the ASAIHL (Association of Southeast Asian Higher Education) held in Japan for the first time. Feature 3 introduces Department of Global Business Studies of Soka Women’s College 's College, which started this spring, and Feature 4 introduces a talk event held to commemorate the publication of "Soka University by AERA." This issue focuses on the achievements of our graduates, and in the first special feature, "The strength of Soka University and Soka Women's Junior College graduates," we introduce graduates who are active all over the country. We have just completed the 89th issue (April issue) of our university's newsletter, Soka University News "SUN." This issue was created with the theme "Spring, a New Start! From the 45th Anniversary to the Next Stage!" and is packed with heartfelt encouragement and advice for new students and those starting a new life.

On April 4th, pitcher Masayoshi Tanaka of the baseball team will open their league match (interview video included), and a representative of the first batch of students from Faculty of Nursing, who is now in their final year, will talk about their enthusiasm for starting a new life. Representatives of graduates and current students will share their advice on real-life life at Soka University. The center-stitched "How to use the campus recommended by seniors" and "How to use the campus map" contain useful information from seniors that we hope you will use right away.

The 88th issue (January issue) of Soka University News "SUN," our university's public relations magazine, has now been completed.
This issue was created with the theme of "The Power of Support," and the cover features people who regularly support the university.
This book conveys the appeal of Soka University through articles such as "Getting to the origin of Soka University's supportive power (an interview with Ms. Tome Otsuka, the first Health Center nurse)," "We are where we are today thanks to support (students' experiences)," and "Soka University support in numbers."
Other features include project pages such as "Soka University Grand Design Initiative 2015-20" and "Academic Exploration" at Soka University featuring Professor Maeda, as well as various university and student news.
SUN is a PDF file that can be easily viewed on your computer, smartphone, or tablet, so please make use of it.

This issue features the following three articles with the theme of "Autumn at Soka University."
