The 2025 Soka University Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation Graduate Student Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony was held

On Wednesday, June 4, the scholarship certificate award ceremony for the 2025 Soka University Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation "Graduate Student Scholarship" was held. The scholarship was established in 2012 with a grant from the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation to support students who have financial difficulties in studying.
At the award ceremony, following the greetings of Vice President Koichi Kandachi, two scholarship students expressed their aspirations on behalf of the students. Ms. Shizuka Furune (Graduate School of Letters, 1st year master's student in the Department of International Education) said, "I want to deepen Japanese education from both research and practice, and grow into an educator who can respect the happiness of students to the fullest."
Next, Kento Totsuka (Graduate School of Science and Engineering Biosciences Major, 1st year doctoral student) said, "I would like to devote myself to world-class glycan research and return the results to society with the guideline 'What is the purpose of refining wisdom?'"
Takahiro Okabe, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation, introduced the life of Soka Education, Tsunesaburo Makiguchi Sensei, who has opened educational opportunities to all people, said, "The Makiguchi Memorial Education Fund was established by Ikeda Sensei to develop human resources who will inherit that spirit and contribute to the happiness of people and world peace." I sincerely hope that they will grow up to be great trees of intelligence in their respective fields."
Finally, Yasunori Tashiro Chairperson, Board of Trustees expressed his gratitude for the generous support of the Makiguchi Memorial Education Foundation, and while referring to Dr. Makiguchi's educational philosophy, he said, "I hope that you will value the feeling of contributing to others, turn the expectations of those who support you into strength, and pour your passion into your future research."
