At an international “Joint EMLG/JMLG Meeting 2017,” which took place from September 11 (Monday) to 14 (Thursday) in Vienna, Austria, Kazuyoshi Kaneko (a doctoral program student) of the Soka University Graduate School of Engineering, Environmental Engineering for Symbiosis Major received a Poster Award.

　The purpose of the international meeting is to provide a venue for exchanges among researchers involved in research into the structure, dynamics, and interactions of molecules in liquids via experimental, theoretical and simulation techniques.
　
　Kaneko, who gave a presentation under the title, “Dynamic and thermodynamic properties of confined water in water pocket formed in ionic liquids.” clarified the behavior of water confined within ionic liquids.
　
　Kaneko shared that this award was made possible thanks to the support of his supervisor, Professor Shimizu, along with the co-researchers of other universities and his seniors, peers, and juniors. He also said that he was able to gain precious insight through discussions with many people, and that he will further challenge himself in his research activities, using this experience as a source of encouragement.
