Paper by Soka University’s Faculty of Economics Professor Junichi Kanzaka carried in the Journal of Historical Geography, an academic journal

A paper by Professor Junichi Kanzaka of Soka University’s Faculty of Economics titled, Manorialisation and demographic pressure in medieval England: an analysis of the Hundred Rolls of 1279–1280, was introduced in an academic journal, Journal of Historical Geography, vol.60 (April 2018). This international journal introduces papers on broad topics pertaining to studies of history.

Using the Hundred Rolls, which were edited in 1279-1280, the paper clarifies that, in medieval England, the development of a manor (a unit of the lords’ land) was a two-dimensional process, and the paper makes a quantitative analysis on how that was related to an increase in population.
