Two Students Become Champions at the 87th All Japan Students Kickboxing Championship

On November 24 (Saturday), the 87th All Japan Students Kickboxing Championship (sponsored by the All Japan Students Kickboxing Federation) took place at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, where three students from Soka University’s Kickboxing Masurao Group participated in the final championship tournament, by class.

Mr. Yoshihito Idogawa (junior, Faculty of Letters) of the bantamweight class (50.8–53.5 kg) had a knockout win twice, and Mr. Koji Ichiki (junior, Faculty of Business Administration) of the welterweight class (61.2–66.6 kg) won on points, both becoming champions in their respective class for this year.
In the group competition, in which teams compete based on the total winning points of three kickboxers designated by each university, Soka University’s Kickboxing group won third place.

Winning third place as a group and with individuals winning championships was the result of the united efforts of the kickboxers themselves, who went through intense weight loss and daily training, all while overcoming injuries up to the tournament, and of all those who supported them in unity.
