    Comment by Director Seishi Karashima
“All publications are written in English so that our research results can be known to researchers everywhere and so that outstanding researchers around the world can help contribute. This effort bore fruit, and the publications have today become ones that have attracted the greatest attention globally and that have received the highest appraisal in the field of Buddhology. At every annual meeting of Institut de France, our publications have been introduced.
The annual report includes a variety of content from prominent Buddhist researchers from within and outside Japan contributing many high-level papers, with many photographic materials that have been shown for the first time in the world, along with 21 papers related to Buddhist epigraphs, literatures, thoughts, archaeology, and art from India to Gandhara, Central Asia, and China. Researchers and guest researchers from our institute have also submitted six papers in total.
Also, as proof that this is a research magazine that has received the world’s highest appraisal in the field of Buddhology, 39 leading individuals from Buddhology, Indian studies, and Central Asian studies have joined the editorial board from this volume.
In considering all of this to be a high appraisal, and, given the complete total trust allotted to us from authentic scholars around the world due to the achievements that we have accumulated, we are deeply encouraged.”
