Minister of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Japan Delivers Lecture at Soka University’s General Education Course

On July 12 (Friday), Minister of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Japan Dmitry Birichevsky delivered a lecture at Soka University Faculty of Letters Professor Hideki Tamai’s “Peace and Human Rights” class. The theme of the lecture was “Japan-Russo Relationship and Russian Diplomacy.” Based on the history, culture, and politics of Russia, Minister Birichevsky spoke on how to deepen the future relationship between Japan and Russia. This was an opportunity for the students to learn about Russia in an accessible way.

In his lecture, Minister Birichevsky shared as follows: “While there are various issues in terms of diplomatic relationships between Japan and Russia, the solution entails various challenges. I think that the various information that pertains to the two nations shared through the media is not having a good influence. I hope that Soka University students here will learn about Russia themselves. A university is one of the important venues where the relationship between two nations can be deepened via studying abroad or through exchanges with international students. I hope that each student can feel the importance of such exchanges and can interact not only with Russia but many other countries. I feel that Soka University is such a university.”
