Soka University Doctoral Program Student Receives the Most Outstanding Poster Award at the 7th International Conference for Young Chemists

From August 14 to the 16, an international conference centered on graduate school students of the Asia Pacific Region titled, 7th International Conference for Young Chemists (ICYC), took place in the Province of Penang of Malaysia where Soka University student Ms. Lee Younghee (from South Korea) of the Graduate School of Engineering, Environmental Engineering for Symbiosis (doctoral program) received the Most Outstanding Poster Award.

ICYC is a biannual conference sponsored by graduate school students of the Universiti Sains Malaysia and aims to gather graduate students domestically and internationally to create a network in the field of chemistry.

The award recipient Ms. Yi shared, “I was stimulated by the vigor of young researchers, who gathered from around the world. We were able to joyfully discuss our research, which motivated me to further make efforts in my research. As a result of my efforts to make the contents of my research easily understood, I was able to receive the Poster Award for the first time in my life and I am overjoyed. My research is on the separation and collection of carbon dioxide, which is considered the main cause of global warming. In concrete terms, I am engaged in research to elevate the adsorption performance of carbon dioxide by preparing absorbents, using porous material, which is a controlled pore structure. I will show further results in my research with the goal to become a researcher, who can significantly contribute to the issues of the global environment.”
