On October 16th (Wednesday) and 17th (Thursday), Nankai University held commemorative ceremonies in China to celebrate the centennial of it’s opening. Soka University President Yoshihisa Baba and others were invited and also participated.

On the 16th, the World University Presidents’ Forum was held to commemorate the centennial. An opening ceremony, a keynote speech, and a panel discussion took place. On the 17th, approximately 5,000 guests and graduate students from various countries participated, where a ceremony was also held to commemorate the centennial.

In the afternoon of the 17th, President Yoshihisa Baba and others visited Hebei University and participated in a signing ceremony for an exchange agreement. Participants were Hebei University Vice President Li Jin Shan, faculty of economics, as well as approximately 20 representative faculty members from the Japan Research Center. In conjunction, a declaration was made to establish the “Hebei University Daisaku Ikeda Research Group,” and an unveiling ceremony of a signboard took place.

Vice President Li Jin Shan of Habei University shared: “Dr. Daisaku Ikeda is a prominent thinker, philosopher, and a pioneer of Sino-Japan friendship. Over the course of many years, he promoted education that also loves peace. Soka University, which Dr. Ikeda founded, has shown significant development, attracting attention from all over the world.

To sign an official exchange agreement is the greatest honor for our university. At the same time, I am extremely happy about the establishment of the ‘Institute of Daisaku Ikeda Study.’ With today’s signing of the exchange agreement, we would like to start to further deepen our friendly exchanges with Soka University. Furthermore, with the cooperation of both universities, we would like to foster capable individuals who can contribute to the friendship between Japan and China.”
