The 2019 Fall Term Honor Student Certificate and Conferral Ceremony is Held

On November 11th (Monday), the 2019 Fall Term Honor Student Certificate and Conferral Ceremony, as well as a commemorative dinner meeting, took place at the Soka University New Prince Hall. There were 96 participating students who were selected as honor students (out of which 7 are international students), together with President Yoshihisa Baba and deans, faculty and staff representatives.

Soka University’s honor student system aims to encourage those who obtain outstanding grades after they enter the university. Each semester, top GPA students are selected among students, who obtained 16 or more units, and incentives are provided.
At the conferral ceremony, President Baba shared, “Many of your seniors opened up a path for their juniors through their studies. In the same spirit, please continue to make efforts, stimulate each other and polish yourselves as you study, and grow into capable people who can play an active role in society.”

Participating students shared the following comments:
When I first informed my mother that I was selected as an honor student, she cried with joy. I was accepted to the university through a baseball referral. I will definitely show results in my club activities, exert myself in studies based on the confidence gained from this honor, and conduct filial piety in the future. (Freshman, male student)

I was selected as an honor student when I was a freshman. It was my goal this year too, so I am genuinely happy. I am always keeping in mind my appreciation for my parents who are supporting me behind the scenes. I will challenge myself to learn the things that I can only learn during my college years and strengthen my ability. (Junior, female student)
