Akio Nishiura Seminar of the Faculty of Economics Receives the Outstanding Award at the 59th Japan Student Economic Seminar Kanto Tournament (Inner Tournament)

    On November 17th (Sunday), the main competition of the 59th Japan Student Economic Seminar Kanto Tournament (inner tournament), sponsored by the Japan Student Economic Seminar Kanto Tournament, in cooperation with Nikkei Business Publications, took place at Chuo University, Tama Campus. It is the biggest student presentation gathering in the Kanto area. In the presentation category, Team Sun with Mr. Masamichi Hashimoto, Ms. Honami Naito, Mr. Daiseiki Sugayama, Ms. Miyuki Sugimoto, Mr. Yumi Hashiguchi, Ms. Yuri Harada, Ms. Hiromi Kato, Ms. Chihiro Harada, Mr. Ryo Shirokoda of Akio Nishiura Seminar of Soka University’s Faculty of Economics, won the Outstanding Award (second place).

    In total, 137 teams from 25 universities participated in this presentation category. The final selection took place among the12 teams that remained. From Soka University, 4 teams including Nishiura Seminar, Kanzaka Seminar and Chikasada Seminar of the Faculty of Economics, and Yasuda Seminar of the Faculty of Business Administration participated in the final selection. Each team had 15 minutes to present, followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers.

    Team Sun of the Nishiura Seminar, which won the Outstanding Award, took up the theme of “Reducing stress for family caregivers,” and presented a new project called WEB Service “Kakunomi,” which makes it possible to reduce the stress of family caregivers. Judges shared comments such as “you have pursued a theme that holds social significance,” and “we could see the result of the efforts made to this day from the presentation, instead of superficial technique.”

    Mr. Masamichi Hashimoto, who served as the team leader (senior, Faculty of Economics) shared: “Approximately half a year until the main competition, it was a continuation of struggles as I faced several challenges without any correct answer, but with the support of many people including Professor Nishiura and many others, I was able to challenge myself in the main competition, burning with a never-give-up spirit until the end. I am filled with unlimited joy and appreciation that we were able to challenge ourselves and be united as a team. I will continue to make efforts so that I can contribute to society as a Soka University student.” Akio Nishiura Seminar of the Faculty of Economics received the Outstanding Award.
