Yoshinori Yasuda Seminar of the Faculty of Business Administration Wins the Second Consecutive Most Outstanding Award at the "11th Competition of the Consortium of Universities in Hachioji Student Presentation Meeting"

    The "11th Competition of the Consortium of Universities in Hachioji Student Presentation Meeting" (sponsored by the Consortium of Universities in Hachioji, supported by the Hachioji City Board of Education) took place on December 7 (Saturday) and 8 (Sunday) at the College Community Center in Hachioji. In this presentation event, students from 25 universities belonging to the Consortium of Universities shared their research results and presented their ideas. The aim of this event was to foster academic-industrial collaboration and to revitalize local communities.

    At the “Students’ Direct Proposal to the Hachioji City Mayor! – Final Selection (Municipal Government Proposal Category),” held on December 8, eight groups that were selected from 24 groups gave their presentations. Four groups from Soka University and Soka Women’s College participated in the final selection.

    Yoshinori Yasuda Seminar of the Faculty of Business Administration won the Most Outstanding Award (1st place). Noboru Mizumoto Seminar of the Department of Global Business Studies of Soka Women’s College won the Outstanding Award (2nd place). Minoru Koide Seminar of the Faculty of International Liberal Arts won the Special Award (3rd place). Tae Kameda Seminar of the Department of Global Business Studies of Soka Women’s College won the Encouragement Award (4th place). In addition, Shinsaku Maruta Seminar of the Faculty of Science and Engineering won the Most Outstanding Award in the agricultural and food session, and Hisashi Amagai Seminar of the Faculty of Business Administration won the Most Outstanding Award in the sightseeing session.

    In this way, many seminars from Soka University and Soka Women’s College performed really well.
    Team “Amor” of Yasuda Seminar, which won the Most Outstanding Award, gave a presentation under the title, “A Society in which Anyone Can Connect to the Community.” It focused on how various projects involving social participation by senior citizens are conducted in Hachioji City and why they are not necessarily bearing fruit. Among them, they presented a proposal for improving the website that promotes social participation (HachiCommiNet), based on hearing surveys by the uses, community, as well as the government.
    Mayor Takashi Ishimori shared his comment, “Social participation by senior citizens is an important challenge. I would like to give great appraisal to the proposals of improving the website that aims to promote social participation based on detailed surveys. I would like to communicate with the departments involved and take this into consideration.”

    The team leader, Ms. Hitomi Nishio (junior, Faculty of Business Administration), shared, “I am happy that our feelings were communicated to the judges. I am full of appreciation for those who supported me, including Professor Yasuda, my seniors, and everyone. Next, I would like to cooperate with Hachioji City and do my very best to realize the proposals.”
