“Peace Studies from the Peripheries – A New Perspective Towards Asia,” co-authored by Professor Yukio Maeda and Associate Professor Kenji Nakayama of the Faculty of Law, is published by Showado. Professor Maeda and associate professor Kenji Nakayama respectively authored chapter 1 and chapter 14.

This book is written by experts in the fields of international political studies and international relations for university students majoring in international relationships and peace studies. Professor Maeda discusses “Studies of the lineage of planet limitation viewed from petroleum” ( chapter 1) and Associate professor Nakayama discusses “Cross Border Cooperation (CBC) in East Asia” (chapter 14).
In his publication, Professor Maeda states that “The Third World theory of the past is now a focus of attention in recent years as the Global South theory. I wrote this chapter in a form that carries on this lineage. The first chapter is structured in a way that it reexamines imperialism through the material features of liquid called petroleum and dramatically changes the understanding of modern history. If you are interested in (1) ethnic self-determination issues, (2) the relationship between monarchical systems in the Middle East and Islam, and (3) climate change issues, please experience the joy connecting each individual issue with each other.” Associate Professor Nakayama shared, “This book is a drastic and pioneering experiment to restructure existing social science studies into the keywords of ‘Peripheries’ and ‘Asia’. With the support of subsidies from a foundation, we were able to publish this as a textbook of an introductory course of Asian community theory. I am filled with appreciation for first-class writers and all those involved. I would be very happy if you can get your hands on this book.”
