Student Voices: Doris

The ILE: TESOL Program balanced theory and practice through courses in teaching methods, curriculum design and exploring the connection between language and society. In the program's final phase, the practicum course provided an opportunity to apply the knowledge and conduct research in an area of interest. While undoubtedly challenging, the overall experience improved my teaching skills and abilities as an English teacher. After the program, I worked at a junior high school teaching English. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree focused on researching the lived experiences of women teaching in Japan and anticipate a career as an educator and independent researcher.
