On October 6, the Center for Malaysian Studies convened its first workshop on the Economic History of Malaya, held at AW1015, Global Square. During the event, Prof. Sugimoto presented a concise literature review focused on quantitative economic history in the Asian region. He elaborated on the methodologies used for estimating key components of the GDP, utilizing the Expenditure Approach.
Following this, Prashant Gupta, a Ph.D. candidate, shared insights from his ongoing research on Penang. Dr. Mohd Ikbal Mohd Huda and Dr. Mohd Shazwan Mokhtar, both members of the Center for Malaysian Studies and Senior Lecturers at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), offered constructive feedback on Gupta's research and suggested avenues for the enhancement of his Ph.D. thesis.
