【FILA】Special Lecture by a Visiting Korean Faculty Member!

On Tuesday, July 2, Dr. Julia. P. L. Lim of Namseoul University was invited to give a lecture on Malaysia's Look East Policy. Below is the report by Dr. Lim.
 

Dr. Julia Lim's guest lecture on Malaysia's Look East Policy provided valuable insights into the economic situations of Japan, Korea, and Malaysia in the 1980s. Attended by students from the Faculty of International Liberal Arts and staff, this lecture was part of the special lecture series on Malaysia-Japan Relations by Professor Md Nasrudin Md Akhir. Focusing on the initiation of the Look East Policy by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Dr. Lim delved deep into a comparative analysis of the policies implemented within the Look East Policy, highlighting the impactful contributions and influences from Japan and Korea.

Dr. Lim began with an overview of the economic landscapes of Japan, Korea, and Malaysia during the 1980s. She explored the challenges and opportunities that arose from the policy, offering recommendations for future strategies to further strengthen Malaysia's economic ties with Japan and Korea.
