【FILA】Faculty Collaboration Meeting and Research Seminar with Faculty Members from the School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia

On July 4, three faculty members from the School of Social Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia visited our university. They participated in discussions about inter-faculty collaboration and visited the Center for Malaysian Studies. Additionally, a research seminar, co-hosted by the Faculty of International Liberal Arts and the Malaysian Studies Center, was held.
The School of Social Sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia and the Faculty of International Liberal Arts at Soka University signed MoU in May 2023. The School of Social Sciences plans to launch a Japan Liberal Studies program in October 2025. During the meeting, they discussed the commencement of substantial educational and research exchanges between the faculties. President Suzuki joined the discussion at the conclusion of the meeting, exchanging views on further promoting exchanges with various Malaysian universities.
In the research seminar, Senior Lecturer Dr. Nur Hafeeza Ahmad Pazil presented on "Japanese Liberal Studies in Malaysia: Prospects and Challenges," discussing the program's objectives, concepts, and curriculum content. Following this, Professor Dato’ Sivamurugan Pandian, a renowned researcher in Malaysian politics and a prominent media commentator, gave a presentation titled "Malaysia Politics: Future Challenges," explaining the unique political environment of Malaysia's complex society and recent major changes. Additionally, Senior Lecturer Dr. Muhammad Febriansyah, an Indonesian researcher, provided a report titled "Indonesian Presidential Election 2024 as Simulacra," focusing on the Indonesian presidential election. After the seminar, there were lively questions and comments from the students, making it a meaningful learning opportunity.
