【FILA】International Collaborative Research (Center for Malaysian Studies)

Sai Htong Kham, a Ph.D. student at the Education University of Hong Kong, gave a talk-sharing session on his cross-national research in Myanmar and Thailand. Following his recent publication in the International Journal of Qualitative Methods, an eminent international journal, Mr. Kham is passionate about sharing his experience and insights on conducting qualitative fieldwork studies with FILA students.

Hosted by the Center for Malaysian Studies, Soka University, Mr. Kham visited Japan for the first time to learn more about the Myanmar communities in Tokyo. During the visit, he also discussed comparative research between Myanmar's migrants in Japan and Malaysia with Dr. Alex Chan, a member of the Center for Malaysian Studies.  They wish to develop the research project for funding opportunities.

One of the objectives of establishing the Center for Malaysian Studies at Soka University is to promote research collaborations on topics that Japan and Malaysia share. The Center also aims to serve as a platform for young scholars with similar research interests to connect and share knowledge.
