【FILA】 Won the Excellence Award at a Film Festival!

The children’s animation Dancing in the Rain, jointly produced by Associate Professor Tomohiro Uchiyama of our university and his wife, Ms. Chao-Chun Yeh, has received the Excellence Award in its category at the Eibunren Awards 2025, which are supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and other organizations.

The work was highly praised as a children’s animation, with particular recognition given to its expressive quality and artistic merit. This award represents a highly commendable achievement, reflecting the strong evaluation of our faculty member’s creative activities in the fields of education and the arts.

At the award ceremony held on November 25, Ms. Chao-Chun Yeh, the co-creator of the work, was in attendance. The ceremony was live-streamed on the Nikkei Channel, and the relevant segment (1:22:00–1:23:30) can still be viewed via the link below.

The film addresses environmental issues and was highly evaluated for presenting these themes in a gentle and humorous manner that is accessible and engaging for children. At the ceremony, the trophy shown in the attached photograph was presented.

Dancing in the Rain has been officially selected for more than 100 film festivals both in Japan and overseas. Notably, it was chosen for the competition section of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, one of the world’s most prestigious international short film festivals. In addition, the creators have been invited to give a stage greeting at a screening to be held in France at the end of January.
