The abstract by Assistant Professor Hayato Ota from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Soka University was selected for Travel Award at Society for Glycobiology 2023 Annual Meeting held in Hawaii, U.S.A., from November 5–8, 2023 and he received two travel awards: Student Travel Award from Society for Glycobiology and JSCR Travel Award from Japan Society of Carbohydrate Research, which co-hosted the meeting.
He presented his research entitled “3-O-sulfated heparan sulfate-induced EGFR signaling activation drives acquisition of castration resistance in prostate cancer” at the meeting.
The Society for Glycobiology is a U.S. scholarly society for glycobiology and has an annual meeting. It was established in 1973 and this year's meeting was the 50th anniversary. More than 350 researchers gathered and various research results on the biological functions of glycans were presented in the meeting.
Assistant Professor Ota said, “I am very honored to receive two travel awards. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Professor Shoko Nishihara and all my joint researchers. My participation in the conference was very fulfilling. I will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of glycobiology.”
