Faculty of Letters Professor Koichi Sakai will give a commentary on the work on the stage of the National Noh Theater

On Saturday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m., Professor Koichi Sakai of the Faculty of Letters will give an explanation of the work at the National Noh Theater's "June Popularization Performance: Shinbai and Atsumori."
Professor Sakai commented as follows.
"Continuing from last year, this year we will be commenting on the work on the stage of the National Noh Theater. It is a work that depicts the tragedy and the salvation of the soul of Atsumori, a prince of the Heike family, who was defeated by the violent Bandō warrior Kumagai Naomi at the young age of 17 (some say 16 years old). It is an elegant popular song created by a Noh author based on "The Tale of the Heike". Before the performance, we will explain the highlights of the work, including the historical background. Same-day tickets are still available, so if you are interested, please take them to the National Noh Theater in Sendagaya."
