Journey of Growth at SIPS: Contributing to Social Justice as a Journalist

Lucrezia Petrucci, originally from Rome, Italy, embarked on her academic journey with undergraduate and master’s studies in International Relations and Political Science, in Italy. Inspired by her academic pursuits and the experiences of a friend, she chose to enroll in the SIPS program at Soka University for her second Master’s degree. Lucrezia was drawn to the program’s unique approach to conflict resolution, which resonated with her previous studies and ignited her curiosity about Soka Education.

Reflecting on her time at SIPS, Lucrezia describes her experience as transformative. The open discussions led by professors fostered a creative and fruitful dialogue that significantly broadened her worldview. She credits her personal growth to the connections she formed with classmates from around the globe, as well as with faculty members who provided diverse perspectives on global issues. This collaborative environment nurtured her understanding of complex social dynamics and instilled a deep commitment to making a positive impact.

Currently, Lucrezia works as a journalist for the Soka Gakkai NGO, where she focuses on writing articles that address social injustices and current global issues. The skills to discuss global issues and experiences exchanging thoughts with people around the world in SIPS program enabled her to engage meaningfully with topics that matter.

To current and future SIPS students, Lucrezia hopes we can enjoy as much as we can with our friends and colleagues. Let’s not restrict ourselves, stretch ourselves. That's our time to do that! Open mind and heart and create connections, that's what matters to become global citizens. Enjoy these years as they are crucial for your present and future.
