A SIPS Faculty Had a Meeting with the Prime Minister of India

On 28 February and 1 March in New Delhi, India, the NXT Conclave was inaugurated - a Davos-style annual event, that provides global governance leaders, captains of industries, entrepreneurs, thinkers and innovators a forum to meet, present their vision for the future and deliberate how to make the world a safer, cleaner and happier place for all. The idea for such annual event was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G-20 Summit hosted in India in 2023, and now it has materialized.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as a chief guest, opened the Conclave with an inspiring visionary address. Among other distinguished speakers were the former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen J. Harper, and of Australia, Andrew Abbott, the former President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinge, former Minister of Norway Erik Solheim, Prof. Brian Greene (Columbia University), Dr. Brian Cox and others. Mr. Tomohiko Taniguchi, foreign policy advisor to late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, was also among the participants.
Prof. Vesselin Popovski, SIPS, Soka University, was invited to speak at the panel on ‘Future of International Law’ and was also given the rare chance to have a one-to-one brief meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who later posted in his X account the following: ‘It was a pleasure meeting Prof. Vesselin Popovski. He has done appreciable work in deepening the understanding of international relations and geo-politics in a rapidly changing world’. This is a high recognition of the success of SIPS in educating future global citizens.
