【FILA】 Gratitude to my Parents #16

Ms. Eri Hirano

What feelings would you like to convey to your parents now?

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. Thanks to my parents, I was able to learn Soka education for 10 years, starting from junior high school, and it has shaped the person I am today. At the end of each day, when I came home tired, they would always say, "Great job! You worked hard today!" My mother’s words of encouragement always supported me and became the driving force behind my daily efforts. During my time at university, they accepted every challenge I wanted to take on, encouraged me no matter what, and always gave me a push forward. Even when I was struggling with decisions about studying abroad or my future path, they remained my greatest allies.

Do you have any impressive memories of your parents in your FILA life?

One of the most memorable moments was when I decided to take on the challenge of an exchange program. The COVID-19 pandemic caused repeated delays in my undergraduate study abroad plans. Eventually, I opted for an online study abroad experience. Despite the uncertainty, I was determined to experience a different culture firsthand and engage in study abroad in person. While I was struggling with how to balance my future student life and the timing of job hunting, my mother encouraged me by saying, "No matter what decision you make, live your university life without regrets. Through your challenges, you will surely discover your own mission."
Her words gave me the courage to fully dedicate myself to both the exchange program and job hunting. Thanks to that encouragement, I was able to tackle both challenges head-on and make the most of my four years in university.
