Dr. Nigus Gabbiye Habtu, associate professor at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, came to Japan on October 12-21, 2022, under the SATREPS-EARTH project. During his stay in Japan, He visited anaerobic digestion and carbonization laboratories, had meetings with Japan side members, visited a large-scale anaerobic digestion facility in the suburbs of Tokyo, and joined the harvest of water hyacinth in Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture.
   On October 14th, he gave a special lecture with the theme of “Combined Lignocellulose Biomass Pretreatment Techniques for Biorefineries: Process Intensification Approaches” for the students and members of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Soka University. Almost 100 people attended this lecture and had an active discussion with Dr. Nigus.
