From October 5th to November 25th, 2022, a short-term training on Theme 2, "Development of nutrient and energy recovery technology", was held as part of the SATREPS-EARTH project.

　Assistant Professor Dr. Eshetu Getahun Mulat and Lecturer Mr. Hailemariam Zewudu Achenef from Bahir Dar University participated in this training. Dr. Eshetu conducted an experiment on biogas circulation, and Mr. Hailemariam conducted an experiment on the quick start-up of a UASB reactor using granular sludge as an inoculum. Through this experiment, they deepened their knowledge and technique of sample collection, analysis, and laboratory management.

　In addition to collecting aquatic weed water hyacinths in Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, on October 19th, they visited Hokubu Sludge Recycling Center in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. They also enjoyed Soka University Festival and visited Mt. Takao, which offers beautiful scenery and attractive hiking opportunities.

　The training lasted more than a month and a half, but appreciating the efforts of many people, we were able to conduct meaningful training safely.
